March 2022 Newsletter - Christine Josti, Independent Stampin' Up! Demonstrator
March is National Crafting Month
I know that we, existing crafters, don't really need a national reason to craft. But some people haven't received the message of why crafting is necessary for living a happy life. Out of curiosity, I did a google search for "reasons to craft" and these two lists for the first two that popped up:
Six Reasons Why You NEED to do Arts and Crafts
- Togetherness.
- Stress relief.
- Happiness.
- Self-expression.
- Creative work can help physical health.
- Mental diseases.
5 Reasons Why Crafting Is The Best Hobby In The World
- Crafting Helps You Avoid Anxiety And Depression. ...
- Crafting Is The Catalyst Of Happiness. ...
- Crafting Is Good For Your Brain. ...
- Crafting Gives Meaning To Life. ...
- Crafting Helps You Become A Better Person.
Do you agree with one, two, three or all of these reasons of why crafting is needed?
Has crafting taken a back seat to other "necessary" chores or activities?
I suggest you take out those supplies, dust them off if necessary, take off the shrink wrap, open the bags, see what you ordered and forgot about, and start crafting.
Get others involved too. Invite a friend, family member, neighbor or your kids friends over and craft. Share the above reasons with them with your invite. Who wouldn't want to do something that makes you happy, is good for your brain or have an afternoon with no stress? Don't worry about perfection, just create.

I have made many posts over the last two years using these sunflowers and thought I would share one link with all of the posts, in case you want to make some sunflowers of your own.

Waves of the Ocean - New Products
Each of the world’s wide and open oceans is brimming with beauty and wonder. Marvelous marine animals, miles of submerged mountain ranges, and unique underwater plants lie thousands of feet below Earth’s dry surface, encouraging exploration and awaiting discovery.
Discover the depths of the ocean—and your artistic abilities—with the Waves of the Ocean Collection! This coastal collection includes an inspiring set of stamps and detailed dies, both early-release products from the upcoming 2022–2023 Annual Catalog. Plus, a pack of paper made from images of hand-poured paint, blue-hued foil sheets for a sea of shine, and radiant rhinestones for a splash of sparkle—each an exclusive product you can only
purchase during the promotion period!
This collection is sure to be a hit, it certainly is with demonstrators across the world. We have been able to pre-order it and create during February. Including me! Remember, the stamp set & dies will be in the upcoming 2022/23 Annual Catalog but the papers, designer & foil, and gems are while supplies last.
You can see the flyer with photos of the stamps, dies, papers & gems HERE.

5 Places to Find Inspirational Card Making Ideas
Sometimes, making cards (or other paper crafting projects) can be overwhelming. Especially for someone who is new. There are MANY places to find ideas. Here is just five of them:
1. For a new stamper, search #simplestamping. Stampin' Up! created this hashtag to make it easier to search out simpler cards. These cards are usually created with basic supplies: ink, paper, stamps and one embellishment.
2. Google search. I tend to use this method the most often because Google will find all of the samples from the many different platforms. Type whatever you are looking for in the search bar: stamp set name, theme, technique, etc. You can also add "Stampin' Up!" or "card" with your description to fine tune it a bit.
3. YouTube. YouTube is another search engine site that has so many DIY videos. I like this better than Pinterest because it gives you tutorials rather than a list of supplies. Search on Youtube the same way as you would Google.
4. Search directly from a demonstrator/creator you like. There are so many different styles of creating. Once you find a demonstrator whose style you like, follow, like, bookmark and sign up for their emails. That way, you have an instant resource of projects you are bound to like. For example, you are already getting my emails and I hope
you visit my blog, facebook page, instagram & youtube channel for continuous ideas.
5. Catalogs (or other printed materials). The producers of catalogs are always on the cutting edge of trends for colors, themes, prints, etc. Look at catalogs with a different eye. What colors are they putting together? What style is coming across? Vintage, modern, clean, whimsical? And don't forget to get ideas directly from the Stampin' Up! catalogs. You can copy directly
or only parts, use the suggested color combinations or techniques. If you read the pages of the catalogs carefully, you'll see that there are many tips and suggestions on many of the pages.
Flash Sale - Stationery Box Class
In honor of National Craft Month, I thought I would provide one of my more popular online project classes as a flash sale of 25% off.
In this class you will be given instructions on making the box with pockets and suggestions for the cards, mini cards and tags you can include with the box.
You will have unlimited access to the class to watch as many times as you wish. Use any papers you already have to customize your box & cards.

I have one paper share left. I included an extra sampler of Daffodil Afternoon paper for this last share too. The cost is $36 for local pick up and $45 for Priority Delivery.
The share includes one sheet of 6" x 12" or 6" x 6" piece of each new pack of Designer Series Papers, plus some extra Sale-a-bration bonus packs. Each pack is labeled with coordinating colors for easier creativity.
I will send a payment link to whoever is the first to respond.
