Stampin' Up! is celebrating watercoloring with World Watercolor Month. Who knew there was such a month?!? I thought it may be helpful to make
a list of Stampin' Up!'s Watercoloring products & techniques.
Paper to Watercolor on:
Products to get Color from:
- Use Water Painter Pens to blend the pencil coloring to make a watercolor look. You can use Blender Pens if coloring a small area.
- Use Staz On Black Ink to keep the stamped image crisp (if introducing water).
Ink Pads
- Squeeze top & bottom lid together (I find it easier to squeeze when the ink pad is upside down). Ink will transfer to the inside of the lid where you can pick it up with the Water Painter (add a little water if you want the color less saturated).
Re-Inkers
-Squeeze drops of ink either on inside of ink pad lid or on an acrylic block. Use full strength or add water.
1. Color on scrap paper and pick up ink with a Water Painter
2. Lightly color on card stock and blend with Water Painter
3. Pick color up by coloring directly on the Water Painter with the individual Chalk Pastel.
- Whenever introducing water to paper, use this Ink to prevent bleeding.
Watercoloring Techniques:
1. No line Watercoloring. Stamp an image with a neutral ink color (such as Sahara Sand or Crumb Cake) and color inside the image & on top of lines (to make the lines disappear).
2. Detailed Watercoloring Using Watercolor Pencils. Stamp an image (with Black Staz On Ink to prevent bleeding), color in with pencils and blend with either Blender Pens or Water Painters & water.
3. Watercolor Wash. Dampen your Watercolor paper with water and then apply light strokes of ink with the Water Painter. Let dry.
4. Faux Watercoloring. Stamp images with colored inks on wither watercolor paper or Shimmery White card stock. Using the fine tip Water Painter, go over and fill in the stamped image, thus creating a watercolor look as the ink bleeds.
5. Emboss Resist with Watercoloring. Heat emboss and image and color in and over the image with Re-inkers and water.
6. Pastel Watercoloring Technique using soft pastels and water painters. Pick up the color from lines colored on scrap paper with the pastels and apply to stamped image (in Black Staz On)
7. Embossing Folder Watercoloring Technique. Use an Embossing Folder with Watercolor Paper and then color the raised impressions of the paper with Water Painters and Ink from a pressed ink pad.
