September 2022 Newsletter - Christine Josti, Independent Stampin' Up! Demonstrator Today is National Read a book day, so I thought I would make a bookmark for you. I love to use and give away handmade bookmarks. I suggest whenever you give a book as a gift, you also make a bookmark. Be sure to make some time to read today!!!! I try to get the most amount of bookmarks from one piece of card stock. I use Thick White card stock, because it's thicker and more sturdy than the standard basic white. Colored Card stock would be sturdy too. In a portrait position, cut at 2-3/4". Cut this piece into two by cutting at 5-3/4" (one of the two pieces will be a little shorter). Turn the remaining piece to the landscape position and cut in 2-3/4" segments (it will give you 4 pieces of the exact same size). This gives you 6 bookmark bases, five at 2-3/4" x 5-3/4" and one at 2-3/4" x
5-1/2". I decorated the following six bookmarks simply. Mainly with one stamped image and sections of Designer Series Paper. Use Multipurpose Liquid Glue to glue down all of your pieces because it will be strongly adhered and flat,
which is necessary for a book. You can shape the top with a punch, dies or scissors, and punch a hole for ribbon. There is so much versatility and customization when making bookmarks. I tried to find stamps in my stash that would lend themselves to a reading, relaxing or motivating message. - The first bookmark uses He's the Man Designer Series Paper, 159068, including the printed cut out. This is the shorter bookmark of my six.
- The second bookmark uses Perfectly Penciled Designer Series Paper, 159244, which I
colored in with Blends Markers. The stamp is from the Flowering Tulips stamp set, 157672.
- The third bookmark uses Design a Daydream Designer Series Paper, 159161 - host only paper. The stamp is from the Let's Set Sail stamp set, 157900.
- The fourth bookmark uses the Lovely in Linen Designer Series Paper, 158644 and the stamped images are from the Sit Stay Relax stamp set, 159152 - host only.
- The fifth bookmark uses the Abigail Rose Designer Series Paper, 159037
and the sentiment is from the Pansy Patch stamp set, 154999.
- The sixth and final bookmark also uses paper from Lovely in Linen Designer Series Paper, 158644. The sentiment is from the Splendid Thoughts stamp set, 159668 and the tea cup is from the Tea Cup dies, 160186.
For September only (or while supplies last), Stampin' Up! is offering dies to go with six stamp sets. They are calling this production Perfect Partners. The stamp sets will be after September, but the dies are limited time offerings. You can purchase them as bundles, saving 10%, or separately (in case you already purchased the set). View all six Perfect Partners. Many kids around the US are going back to school this week and it's always nice to chat with them when they come home with a good snack. This one happens to be one of my daughter's favorites. You can customize with your
own favorite flavors and add ins. It's a great recipe to customize for allergies too. Homemade Granola Bars 1-3/4 cups old fashioned oat
meal 1-1/4 cups Rice Crispies cereal (or any rice cereal. I have also used Ancient Grains Cheerios so feel free to vary it up) 1/2 cup chocolate chips 1/3 cup lightly packed brown
sugar 1/3 cup vegetable oil 1/3 cup honey I usually triple this recipe and make thick bars in my 13 x 9 pan (I may add extra
chocolate too). - Spray an 8" x 8" pan and line with parchment paper.
- Stir oat meal & cereal together in large bowl.
- In a saucepan, mix together brown sugar, oil and honey. Heat until gentle boil.
Cook stirring for one minute. Remove from heat and add to cereal bowl. Mix to combine.
- Evenly pour and spread into pan. Sprinkle top with chocolate chips and press down (I use an extra piece of parchment to press down).
- Let cool and cut into squares or bars.

Each Wednesday I go live
on Facebook at 2pm EST. The topics and projects vary from week to week, but always involve stamping and some tips. This week (tomorrow), I will be showing you the difference between stamping with a white ink pad vs. white embossing powder. I was recently asked about the comparison and thought it would be a good topic & demonstration. I encourage questions and suggestions for the live topics & projects, so please send them my way. You can view all my past lives in two ways. Go to my Mail Something Facebook Page and click on the videos tab (located under "More") or go to my Mail Something Pretty YouTube Channel and click "facebook lives" under Playlists. I encourage hellos and comments, live and on the replays. And definitely tell me if it's your first time watching! "Spooky" Halloween Treats Kit Do you give out Halloween treats? If you do, then September's Paper Pumpkin All Inclusive Crafting Kit may be just for you. Each kit
will contain supplies, including ink, stamps & adhesive, to make 18 absolutely adorable (and just the right amount of spooky) treat boxes—that’s 6 each of 3 unique designs! Did you know there are monthly playlists to listen to while you are putting your monthly Paper Pumpkin kits together? Click here for some Spooky Tunes (anyone can click & listen, you don't have to be a Paper Pumpkin subscriber).
