Helpful Tips on Using Your

Mini Stampin' Cut & Emboss Machine!

I've heard from some of you that you are having some frustrations on getting your plates to run through smoothly with the Mini Stampin' Cut & Emboss Machine.

I want you to LOVE your machine, so I thought I would share some tips that will make things run much smoother.

First thing is, I recommend writing the order date and number on the bottom of your machine with a permanent marker. Stampin' Up! has a 3 year warranty on both the mini & regular sized machines. Having these numbers on the bottom of your machine makes it much easier in case you need to use the warranty.

If you purchased your machine (regular or mini) through me and don't have this information, reach out to me and I will try to find it for you.

The other helpful tip for the bottom of your machine is to keep the "feet" clean. I use packing tape to clean my feet. It's super sticky and removes all of the particles.

Plate Sandwich Tips

All the plates you need for cutting and embossing are included with the Mini Machine. Each plate is numbered and three of them have layering suggestions.

Even though all of the machines look the same, they may have slight variances with best plate sandwich combinations.

When using Stampin' Up!'s suggestions, I find my machine has trouble getting the plates to run smoothly through the machine. I have to fiddle and stagger the plates and it's not a smooth passthrough. Your machine may work just fine with SU's suggestions. Give it a try and see.

But, if the plate recommendations don't run smoothly for your machine, try out these suggestions or, try out your own combinations to see which work best.

Plate Suggestions that Work for Me:

For die cutting:

I use plate #3, a clear plate (#2), card stock, die and the second clear plate (#2). You will ALWAYS sandwich the die with the two clear plates, no matter what your sandwich is.

Regular Embossing Folder:

I use the light gray plate (#3), the standard/regular embossing folder with card stock inside and the white plate (#1).

3D Embossing Folders:

I use the dark gray plate (#4), the 3D Embossing folder with card stock inside and the light gray plate (#3).

Note - some people use the white plate (#1) instead of the light gray plate (#3).

You will need to see which works best for you and then write them down.

I decided to write out my sandwiches on the backsides of each of my plates for easier remembering with a paint marker.

I love my regular machine and use it quite a lot. But now, after figuring out better sandwiches for my Mini Machine, I will use it a whole lot more!!!! (I used it a bunch yesterday while prepping for Wednesday's FB live). You'll definitely be seeing it used on future FB lives because it will fit on my table so much better.

I would guess about 75% of all die sets will work with the Mini Machine. There are 50 Mini Machine specific die sets and 5 Embossing Folder sets in the Annual Catalog and 20 Mini Machine specific die sets in the 2023 Mini Catalog. Each of them has a Mini Machine graphic on top of the photograph to let you know.
