I made these cards during last week's Facebook Live. I used Blending Brushes, a circle mask and scraps of ripped paper to create the colored, texture look. The cards and technique were very well received by those who
watched (and I loved making them).
While making the cards on the live, I suggested this would be a great technique for creating underwater scenes by using different colors, specifically different hues of blues.
So, I thought I would continue the suggestion by creating under water cards in today's email.

As you'll see in the video, you need only a few supplies to create this look: Blending Brushes (either size), ink pads, paper (I used post it paper for my circle mask, but you can use regular copy paper) and scrap copy/printer paper (I re-used my order slip from my last Stampin' Up!
order).
I created my circle mask with my Stylish Shapes dies, but you can use any shaped die or punch.
My first underwater example uses Tahitian Tide and Starry Sky inks. I created the background exactly as I did in the live video. For these cards, I used the Whale Done stamp set and coordinating Whale punch and 2022/24 In Color
Glimmer paper.
This card uses the same two colors for the blending, but I also blended the two colors together in the middle, rather than stopping when they met. It creates one more hue of blue. I stamped the fish, from A Fish & A
Wish Bundle, directly on the paper, but I could have stamped and punched them out too (like I did with one of the whale cards above).
This card was done similarly, except I introduced a third color, Parakeet Party. I decided to make this a square card and let this background shine on it's own by not stamping directly on it. A few Decorative Dots in the same
colors were added for a bit of interest.
This card uses the same three colors as above, but in a different order. I was going to make this a square card as well, but then I decided to mount it on a Woodgrain textured full size Starry Sky card base. They are almost the
same, but completely different at the same time, just by changing the layers and colors of card stock.
This last card is colored (blended) in the exact same way except I used the entire square, instead of using the circle mask. Again, very similar but completely different. I love that about techniques.

Cleaning Blending Brushes
The Blending Brushes are really easy to clean, so you can use them over and over
with different colors each time. I like to rinse them under running water. Lots of the ink will come right off because Stampin' Up! inks are water based. Then, I soak the brushes in a glass of Blue Dawn Liquid soap and water. Rinse again and air dry over night.
