Barbie Inspired Cards!

Two of the biggest, most anticipated summer movies are coming out this Friday: Barbie & Oppenheimer. You don't even have to decide which one to see first. According to AMC theaters, over 20,000 people have already purchased double feature tickets. My son & his friends will be among those thousands. Greta Gerwig and Christopher Nolan are two of my son's favorite directors and the casts in both movies star big names.

There are even hundreds Barbenheimer memes. I'm not kidding, Barbenheimer is a real thing.

In honor Barbie, I created 5 inspired Barbie cards, all using the same Z fold.

Margot Robbie & Ryan Gosling are playing Barbie and Ken.

Even if you are not a Barbie fan, these bright colors are fun to work with. Once the cards are received, your receiver may not even realize they were Barbie inspired (but we know 😉).

After I decided I wanted to make Barbie inspired cards, I realized my supply of pinks were limited. I had no Bubble Bath card stock, but did have Bubble Bath ink and the Delightfully Eclectic Designer Series Paper, which had both Bubble Bath and Black & White graphic patterns. I also had Melon Mambo ink & paper.

Interesting fact: Did you know the Barbie Movie used so much pink paint, "the makers of the highly anticipated live-action movie say they wiped out a company's entire global supply of one shade of it (pink paint)". You can read about it here in an NPR article.

5 Barbie Inspired Cards:

There are so many different types of Z fold cards. This is just one of them and the first I learned many years ago. I'll share some tips & tricks on creating the cards and the Biggest Wish stamp set on my live video too.

Almost the same as the first, but I included a back pattern layer.

I introduced the color of Lemon Lolly to represent Barbie's hair. In the movie (I just googled Barbie Movie images), she has a pink and white checked bathing suit. This paper matches pretty closely.

This one may be a little busy, but Barbie can be a little over the top too!

This last card was inspired by this picture. Pretty close, right?
