November 2024 Newsletter - Christine Josti, Independent Stampin' Up! Demonstrator
I'm not going to (& never will) get political in my emails and postings, but today is a very big day. Not only for the US, but the entire world. No matter which way you cast your vote, I hope you
voted or will be voting by the end of the day. I'll be voting this morning and then taking a walk in the beautiful woods afterwards. How about we put a spin on voting? Vote on a color combination for a card I'll create for next week's email? Cast your color ballot by Friday 11/8 and I'll
create a card using the winning color combination. I'll focus on complimentary color combinations recommended by the new Color Coach. Keep reading this email to see & learn about the new Color Coach. All you need to do to cast your color ballot is reply to this email
with your choice. I'll use one of my favorite stamp sets - A Bird's Eye View for this challenge.
A - Poppy Parade, Flirty Flamingo, Petal Pink, Calypso Coral AND Coastal Cabana, Lost Lagoon, Pretty Peacock & Shaded Spruce B - Daffodil
Delight, Lemon Lolly, Very Vanilla AND Blackberry Bliss, Gorgeous Grape & Highland Heather Note: when using the Complimentary Color selections on the wheel, you don't have to use all 6-8 colors! You get to pick & choose among the recommended colors, as they are suggestions.
New Products Available Tomorrow (11/5)!
I love how Stampin' Up! introduces new products every month of the year! New products are released with each new catalog (3x a year), as Online Exclusive products (6x a year) and two new kits every month. This
new product release strategy gives us so many choices all year long. Beginning tomorrow, in addition to the two new kits that will be offered, you'll also have new choices with the launch of the new Online Exclusives products. The pictures below show only a few of the new releases, but there are many other
choices. Two New Suites!
Color Coach #166481, $12.50 The Color Coach is Stampin' Up!'s version of the color wheel and is based on color
theory—the combination of art and science that determines what colors look good together.
One side of the Color Coach has all current Stampin’ Up! colors (except Neutrals) laid out with a spinning wheel in the center. This center wheel gives you monochromatic, complementary, analogous, and triadic information about our colors. The back explains each of these concepts, plus the range of neutral colors. One of my favorite parts in creating cards is choosing the colors to use. I know some crafters struggle with color, but it's something I really enjoy and how you will too. I'm using the new (available tomorrow) bundle called Classic Wedding. As you know, colors are VERY important to wedding planning. Wouldn't it be fun to make a wedding card and have it match the wedding party's colors?? This set would be perfect for that. I'll even show you a non-wedding card (it's Christmas) using this set! This car reminds me of a 1946 Buick my dad bought to restore. His was black (not many color choices in those days) but you can make yours any color!
I used my new Color Coach Wheel as a guide to help choose colors for the following card. By spinning the inner wheel, you get lots of color combination suggestions. Start by choosing the main focal color you want to use and then look at the suggestions for monochromatic,
analogous, complementary and triadic combinations. Monochromatic - having or consisting of one color or hue Analogous - colors that sit next to each other on the color wheel Complementary - colors on opposite sides of the color wheel Triadic - three equally spaced colors around the color wheel I combined the analogous
suggestion with a touch of complementary.
You could copy this card in ANY color! Neutrals plays a big role in this card. Two layers of Smoky Slate (base & patterned layer) & silver (or chrome in
the case of the car). There's also a good share of white. We have so many great neutral choices that will make the color you want to focus on POP!
Turning the Wedding Car into a Christmas Car! I had so much fun creating these two cards! When I choose a stamp set to purchase, I like it to have some sort of versatility.
In this case, this car does not have to be wedding only. You could add some balloons (not included) to turn it into a retirement or birthday card, going on a grand adventure or graduation card, use the die pieces (banner, flowers, greenery, hearts & flowers) for accents in many other projects.
