This is a great last minute (or planned) gift that you can turn into any occasion depending on the pattern of your paper. My example is for Christmas, but think about get well, birthday, happy retirement, thank you, etc. You can purchase a small plant at any grocery store (as well as plant nurseries).
This week's
directions are explained with picture tutorials rather than a longer text writeup. Enjoy!
Week 11 - Gift of Nature
Instructions:
Select a plant. I bought this one at a grocery store. This plant is in a 4" pot (meaning it's 4" in diameter).
2. Measure the height of the pot. My example is 3-1/4".
3. Cut your pattern paper. My example is 12" x 6". You will want the paper's height to be about 2-3/4" to 3" longer than the height of your pot.
Score in the portrait position: 1" from the top and 2" from the bottom (my example is scored at 1" and 4-1/4").
I used Nests of Winter Designer Series Paper #164183
4. Cut from the bottom up to the score line ( in the landscape position) every 2" (my example is cut at 2", 4", 6", 8" & 10").
5. Fold down on the top and bottom score lines.
6. Wrap the paper around the pot.
7. Glue the two seams together.
8. Fold up the bottom cut sections and glue in place.
9. You may want to take the pot out of the sleeve and wrap the bottom with plastic wrap so the paper does not get damaged from watering. Insert back into the paper sleeve.
10. Decorate a tag and attach to a wooden skewer.
Tip - I traced around the back side of the die I used to create a larger layer to place underneath my stamped tag. Cut out with scissors.
For my tag, I used the Christmas Labels bundle #164101. Stamped on Smoky Slate
card stock in Real Red ink.
