Did you know that Stampin' Up! offers 12 different types of adhesives? I was recently asked which type was my favorite and it got me thinking about all the different kinds we have and which adhesives are best/better for specific types of projects. I'd love to hear if you have additional uses for your favorite adhesives. I'll indicate my favorites and most used with a ⭐ rating (these ratings are 100% my opinion). You can look at and purchase all of the listed adhesives here.
⭐ ⭐ ⭐⭐ ⭐ Multipurpose Liquid Glue (sometimes referred by crafters as "green glue" because of the green tube. #110755, $6. My absolute FAVORITE adhesive for a few reasons: - It's economical. You don't have to use much to get a good stick. A $6 tube goes a long way.
- It's versatile. You can use it on almost any
project! It's great for both cards and 3D projects.
- It's repositionable for a few seconds - in case you need to move/adjust what you are sticking.
- There are two tips: fine tip on the top and glue stick on the bottom.
According to google, these are the benefits to this glue: "a quick drying time, a clear finish, precise application due to its fluid consistency, versatility for various materials, minimal odor, and a strong, reliable bond
making it ideal for a wide range of crafting projects, from paper crafting to scrapbooking and beyond".
Tip on this glue: replace the cover after using so the tube does not get clogged.
⭐ Fine Tip Glue Pen. I like the idea of this glue, but if you are not super careful, the pen will get clogged. You need to insert the thin (very thin) metal stopper into the glue tube each time you place the cover on. 138309, $725
⭐ ⭐ ⭐ ⭐ ⭐ Dimensionals (some may refer to these as "pop ups". Dimensionals give height/dimension to a sentiment, die cut, ephemera or card layer. Stampin' Up!'s versions are hexagon shaped, placed on a sheet of 100 in a honeycomb pattern (total of 300 in a pack) and are 3/8" at their widest. I like to use the edge pieces, which are half sized, for those really
little areas you want to pop up. Dimensionals come in:
- ⭐ ⭐ ⭐ ⭐ ⭐ Standard size (3/8" at their widest) #104430, $4.25
- ⭐ ⭐ ⭐ ⭐ Mini size (3/16" at their widest), total of 720 pieces, #144108, $425
- ⭐ ⭐ ⭐ Black combo pack (2 sheets of both sizes), #150893, $6.25
- ⭐ ⭐ ⭐ ⭐ Foam Adhesive Strips 1/8" x 9", #141825, $8.25. Two sheets of 22 strips. These are great for
shaker cards or when you have something thin you want to pop up, such as a sentiment. These are slightly higher than the regular dimensionals.
I only "starred" the black dimensionals & Foam strips less because I don't use them as often as the others. They are both great products but used more specifically on specific types or colors of projects.
⭐ ⭐ ⭐ ⭐ Tear & Tape, #154031, $7. I think this should be called "tape & tear" instead 😀. This is great for 3D projects when the above Multipurpose Liquid Glue won't work. Strong stick. Place the tape where you want it, tear away the backing and then stick. It is not repositionable. It's also great when you want to place a strip of
ribbon down flat.
⭐ Tape Runner - Stampin' Seal, #152813, $8 (Refill #152814, $6). I do not like this tape runner. I find it extremely difficult to teach people how to use it because you need to do a specific type of wrist flick when you are done to "end" the sticky. Plus, it bothers my arthritic wrist. For these two reasons, I don't use or teach with it.
⭐ ⭐ Tape Runner - Stampin' Seal Plus, #149699, $12 (Refill #152812, $8). This runner is MUCH better than the Seal because the sticky part is perforated which makes ending the stick so much better, no need of the special wrist flick. However, it's expensive. It does have a super strong stick, similar to Tear & Tape.
⭐ ⭐ ⭐ Adhesive Sheets, #152334, $11.50. 12 sheets of 6" x 12". You can customize the size to suit your needs. I think they are perfect to use to take on the shape of your die (for example a letter of the alphabet). You can stick your paper onto a sheet (or partial sheet), place a die on top and run through your die cutting machine. Now the adhesive
sheet is stuck to the exact shape of your cut out.
⭐ ⭐ ⭐ Foam Adhesive Sheets, #152815, $8.25. Six sheets of 4-1/4" x 4-1/2". These work in the exact same way as the above Adhesive Sheets except there is dimension to these sheets - they are 1/16" in height.
⭐ ⭐ ⭐ Mini Glue Dots #103683, $7.25. Instant dots of adhesive. No fumes, no mess, no drying time. Holds heavier embellishments, ribbon, card stock, and detailed die cuts. They work great when wanting to adhere a bowed ribbon (because liquid glue would take too long to dry).
⭐ ⭐ ⭐ ⭐ ⭐ Pre-stuck Dots, Sequins, Pearls, Gems.... These come in all assorted colors, sizes and finishes. I love how they already have the stick attached! Stampin' Up! has quite an assortment.
