August 2025 Newsletter - Christine Josti, Independent Stampin' Up! Demonstrator
My daughter and I were shopping yesterday and noticed all the Back to School displays and sales (as well as all of the Halloween displays - yikes!) This August marks the first one in 21 years that our
household is not going through the "back to school" motions. It's kind of strange to think about and it may even be a little sad once September comes around. But for now, it's still summer and we should all be enjoying it! Although, that doesn't mean we still won't take advantage of
some of those back to school sales 😉 Speaking of sales, there's a great one this month on all the new 2025-2027 In Color Products, including a great new floral bouquet kit that launches today. I saw it in person and it's amazing! The colors that are on sale are: Cloud Cover, Darling Duckling, Secret Sea, Strawberry Slush and Timid Tiger. I love each of them!!! You'll see me using them in my live later today too. Hope to see you live or on the replay! ~ Christine
I am in love with this set of In Colors and am very excited they are on sale! I don't have a set of Blends Markers or Stampin' Writes for these colors yet, so those are on my shopping list. - This 15% off sale includes select inks,
card stock, Designer Series Paper, embellishments, and other products that include these new In Colors. Only products featured on the 2025–2027 In Colors page are included in this promotion (many things including a new paper bouquet card kit released today!!!)
You may have remembered when these new colors launched in May that there was an issue with the Cloud Cover ink pad. Because of ink pad unpredictability, lack of long term reliability and unanticipated acts of chemistry, Stampin' Up! will not selling the Cloud Cover ink pad. However, there are solutions and work-a-rounds to getting cloud cover as ink. I've linked the options for easy shopping and gave you item numbers as well. Alternate Options: Because the actual Cloud Cover ink formula performs well (before it’s added to a foam pad), all is not lost for those who want to
get in on the inky acton. Our Stampin’ Spots are made using felt, and we haven’t seen this unpredictable chemical response occur with this material. • The Stampin’ Spot Assortment Pack (166716) is
for sale, which will include the Cloud Cover Stampin’ Spot! (Remember, the problem was with the foam pad, not the felt pad which are what the Spots are). • The Cloud Cover Stampin’ Spot won’t be sold outside of the assortment pack, but you can pair the Cloud Cover Classic Stampin’ Ink Refill (165279) with the Uninked Stampin’ Spots (141822) to achieve a consistently accurate hue. Plus, the ink refill is a very technique-friendly
product in general, making it a great core supply to have on hand! • While these solutions don’t provide a full-sized ink pad option, they do give you access to Cloud Cover ink. • You can also ink your stamps using the Cloud Cover Stampin’ Write Marker, available in the 2025–2027 In Color Stampin’ Write Markers (165292) collection. This technique works especially well with cling stamps.
On my live last week, I demonstrated "Masking Tape Stamping" (I actually did it with wide painter's tape which I had to trim down). It was a technique I learned years ago and considered it an "oldie but goodie" but, I realized while on the live and from the responses I received from emails, this technique
was a new one for many of you. The card on the right shows four of the In Colors (the ones on sale) and the card on the left is the card I made on the live. You can see how I made these cards and a few other variations by watching the replay.
Helpful Tip: Cutting Templates for Layers I received such great feedback last week on topics, ideas and what you want to learn or are struggling
with. Thank you! Please, keep your feedback coming anytime. Most likely, if you are having struggles with something in particular, then someone else is too. I had several readers write to me saying they were having trouble cutting and lining up card layers. I made this video many years ago that shows a way of cutting
templates that you can use to figure out what kind and how many layers would accomplish the look you are going for. I hope it is helpful to you too!
I am working on the details for my twice a year stamping event and will open Registration soon! If you want to be on the notification list, please reply back letting
me know. This event will be held in Norwell Massachusetts, which is on the east coast of MA. If you are in drivable distance, we'd love to have you join us for 4 hours of stamping and creating. If you live too far way, and I know many of you do, I will be filming many of the projects so you won't have to completely miss out.
NOTE: The other thing that impacts Massachusetts is, this Saturday and Sunday is a "tax free holiday" which means all Stampin' Up! products will be tax free!!!
Today I'm going to demonstrate stamping your own background paper and cutting for maximum use (in response to last week's question from a reader about frugally making 200 Christmas cards) as well as some other great tips. I'll be using the new (sale) In Colors on both of my examples too! You can watch live at 2pm ET (1pm
Central, 12pm, MT & 11am PT) on YouTube: YouTube - https://mailsomethingpretty.com/YouTube I go live every Tuesday and every first Thursday at 7pm ET (for Global live stamping with my
Australian Demonstrator crafting friend Ann). Because of how the calendar worked this month, we actually went live last Thursday (rather than this) because it was the first Friday of August for Australia (and the last day of July). I will tell you, it was a crazy live with a whole bunch of tech issues (Ann had lost her internet for the beginning section) and then I cut my paper wrong.....but we pushed through and made some really great
3D projects in the end. Turns out, we ended the call and I only had 13% power on my computer because even though I had it plugged in, it wasn't charging. That would have been another interesting twist to our "comedy show". Sometimes you just don't have control over things and you have to roll with it. Having a humorous attitude helps too. For that live, I made a fun chocolate covered Oreo sliding box and Ann
made a really great interchangeable banner (I don't have a photo of her project yet). You can watch that live here.

Last Chance List Updated Stampin' Up! updated the Last Chance Products category with additional products and discounts! See & shop them here. Shopping Tip: When you are looking at this list, notice that many of the bundles are not listed on sale, but the individual items are. Check the math. You may save more money by buying the stamp set and dies individually, rather than the bundle that is always 10% off. My favorite on this list is the Year of Flowers. I love the flowers stamps, but I love the sentiments even more and use them all the time.
