3 Ways to color white twine/ribbon

Did you notice there are no longer multiple colors of baker's twine offered in the Stampin' Up! catalog? Many of you know I am a huge fan of using twine (I can hear a few of you class attendees groaning :). White twine is my usual go to, but sometimes a little bit of colored string is just what the project/card needs. I want to show you three ways to color your twine. These methods work with white/vanilla ribbon too!

1. Dye with Re-Inker

Add some drops of re-inker with either water or rubbing alcohol to a container and let the white baker's twine soak overnight. (If you use water, the string may bleed if it becomes wet. Rubbing alcohol should be a permanent dye).

2. Color with Blends Markers

Place a double piece of scrap paper underneath your ribbon and color right on top using the brush tip. Don't forget to color both sides for full saturation.

3. Sponge & Ink pad

Place the twine on top of the ink pad. One hand (finger) holds the sponge dauber on top of the string and the other hand pulls the string. Repeat until you get the coverage you want. You can also place the twine on scrap paper and daub until you get the color you want. I think the first way works faster and more evenly.
