Do you feel the time crunch coming for the holidays now that we turned the page to November? Thanksgiving is a bit later this year which is a good thing to help us get ready. However, because it's late there is one week less between Thanksgiving and Christmas!!!
Maybe not such a good thing...
Do you have any organizational tips for the holidays? Send them to me and I'll put them all together and send them out to the group. Let's help each other out so we can actually ENJOY the holidays instead of catching up to them. I look forward to hearing your tips!
Q: I noticed that there are ‘standard’ and ‘mini’ Dimensionals in the catalog. Why?
A: You’re asking a great question as I thought the same thing … when I need a small piece, I just cut a ‘standard’ Dimensional (104430) in half. That is until I purchased a package of the Minis (144108). What a difference!
Our ‘standard’ Dimensional is 3/8” x 3/8” … so even when you cut it in half, it’s still 3/8” long. Our Minis are 1/4” x 1/4”. In other words, one-half as long as a cut ‘standard’ – a game-changer when working with small images!
And don’t forget that we now carry Black Dimensionals (page 55 Holiday catalog 150893). One package has both ‘standard’ and Minis - perfect when working with darker card stock and ribbons.
Q: I am trying to do heat embossing and I used the powder embossing buddy, VersaMark Ink and embossing powders. When I heat the image with my hair dryer, the embossing powder doesn't melt. Why isn't this working?
A: How disappointing for you! The reason why the hair dryer doesn't melt the embossing powders is because it does not get hot enough. You will need to use a heat tool* #129053. (And be careful not to burn your fingers!). I like to hold down the card stock on
the table with the tip of my scissors to be on the safe side. Some like to hold their card stock with a clothes pin in the air.
Q: I love SU’s stamp designs and want to buy a couple more sets but I’m not sure which Blocks to buy. What do you suggest?
A: On the same line as the product number and price in the catalogs, Stampin’ Up! lists which blocks would work best. However, they recommend more blocks than you really need. Especially the smaller blocks. If you are careful when inking, you can use a larger Block instead of the
really small.
I suggest you start with three Blocks - C, D and H as they will work with the majority of our images. You can see the entire collection of blocks on page 182 of the Annual Catalog. I hardly ever use block F (although you could use F as a paint palette with the re-inkers).
Another great option is to use the Stamparatus instead of any blocks. The Stamparatus will guarantee stamping any and all size of stamps without wondering if you have the right size. And by using the Stamparatus, you will save room in your craft area and get a great stamp each and every time.
If you have questions about Stampin' Up! products, please send them my way so I can answer them for you.
* Heat Tool Tip - The Stampin’ Up! Heat Tool (#129053) is better than the box stores ones because it has TWO heat settings – high heat for melting embossing powder; low heat for drying
ink or some card stock that got a little too much spritzing! You can also use it for gift basket shrink wrap. It works much faster than the recommended hair dryer (which takes a long time).
"Hot off the Press" Christmas & Holiday Cracker Video Tutorial
Make these fun & cheery Christmas Crackers (or any Holiday Cracker) with just a few supplies: card stock, scorer and ornament punch. I will be updating my blog later today with the measurements and supply links, but everything you need to know is in the video.
I think these would make great stocking stuffers, Secret Santa treats and Name card/Place settings.

Purple Posy Ink to be Discontinued (ink pad only)
Directly from Stampin' Up!
Despite our efforts to resolve issues with Purple Posy ink, we have learned that the ink color is still shifting over time. This means that the color is coordinating more loosely than we typically allow with our colors. Due to these ongoing challenges, we have decided to discontinue Purple Posy classic ink. As of November 5, 2019, the following items
will no longer be available to purchase:
- Purple Posy Classic Stampin’ Pad (item 150084)
- Purple Posy Classic Stampin’ Ink Refill (item 150091)
- 2019–2021 In Color Classic Stampin’ Pad Assortment (item 150087)
We are unable to replace Purple Posy ink pads for customers or demonstrators who have already received them. However, anyone with concerns regarding the color shifting properties of their Purple Posy ink pads may contact Demonstrator Support (1-800-STAMPUP) and we can offer a $7.50 coupon code as compensation. The coupon codes will expire on
January 1, 2020.
The three item numbers listed above may still appear in the 2020–2021 annual catalog, but will not be available to purchase after November 5, 2019.
All other Purple Posy products (such as Purple Posy Stampin’ Write Marker, Purple Posy Cardstock, Purple Posy Stampin’ Blends, etc.) will remain available for purchase.
All of Stampin’ Up!’s exclusive ink colors are run through a vigorous series of tests to get ahead of challenges like this, and to ensure colors are accurate and meet our standards of coordination. Purple Posy did pass regular testing standards in time-simulating ovens, but we have now identified that it fell short when it came to actual time
passing. The color begins to shift once the ink has rested in the ink pad for about six weeks.
It is rare for Stampin’ Up! or our ink manufacturer to have such persistent issues with ink; Purple Posy has certainly been an anomaly. We completed full testing on 11 distinct batches of Purple Posy Classic Stampin’ Ink before releasing the current version. We are now confident that no additional efforts would uphold our coordination needs over
time. We appreciate your patience as we have worked through this manufacturing difficulty and regret that we are unable to share better news.
