October Mail Something Pretty Newsletter

Welcome October!

The other day I was in Target and was lured over to the card section to check out the competition.  I was amazed when I turned over a Papyrus card and saw the price!  These cards ranged from $5.95 to $9.95!!! They kind of had that "hand crafted" look, but nothing that compares to the work that we do.  Be confident in the cards you make.  Mail them to everyone and be proud.  Share the secret with everyone that they can make beautiful cards for only a fraction of the price they are spending at the stores.  Tell them that they can make their own cards which are more beautiful, more meaningful and more cost effective.  And don't forget to tell them how much fun it is!

The happy rubber duck card seen here was the card I made for my daughter who turned 12 last week.

Watch out for 12 Weeks of Christmas
Image
Beginning this week, I will be sharing ideas for Christmas cards, gifts, tags and boxes with each of you.  Each idea will be accompanied with a supply list and instructions.  Be sure to save these ideas so you can refer back to them when you need them.  Or better yet, get a jump start on your Christmas making and make your goodies along with me.  When the 12 weeks are over, you'll be all done and very happy!

Make your own embellishments
Did you know you can make your own embellishments with a glue gun, silicon pad and Blendabilities?  It's really quite easy and fun.  First, you need to color your silicon pad with your Blendabilities.  I did two coats of each color.
Next, you are going to use your hot glue gun (on the hot setting) and squeeze drops of glue onto the colors on the pad.
Once they are cool, you can lift off your embellishments and use them with a glue dot to add some pizazz to your card.  Just cut away any "strings" that are left behind.  Isn't that great?
